The farm Pieve Del Castello takes its name from the existence of ancient rural buildings

The castle is not only a fortress with defense functions, but also a center of agricultural life. Many cities in central living well in agriculture, such as Orvieto, Arezzo, Gubbio. In the same way the term city includes not only the town but also the territory which depends, to a “castle” means a walled village, but in many cases all of the lands cultivated by the inhabitants. “The Castle” then becomes a territorial unit, an island, with fields, vineyards, olive groves and woods.

The farm Pieve Del Castello takes its name from the existence of ancient rural buildings of the eighteenth century belonged to the Benedictine monks in the distant past found in the Abbey of San Pietro (Perugia).

We have a museum of rural culture inside the barn.

The region of Umbria (called the “green heart of Italy” by Carducci in one of his poems for its greenery), offers a wide variety of morphological characters and landscape, and a succession of valleys, mountain ranges, plateaus and plains, crossing the region from west to east, are the dominant geographical features.

From Lake Trasimeno along its entire Apennine ridge, many parks can be found, counting up to at least seven.

But this territory is not just nature. It is also history and art.
Umbria: land of saints and warriors.
Saints have been born here more than anywhere else in Italy (St. Francis and St. Benedict of all). But the profile of villages and reassuring aura of holiness is not an aspect that often dissolves when it comes out of these countries. Counterpart to the Saints other important figures come from the region, such as Braccio da Montone, Piccinino, Niccolò or Erasmus Gattamelata, who were Capitani di Ventura- the most ruthless soldiers of fortune of the Renaissance.
The major attractions in Umbria from artistic point of view are:

Perugia (regional capital)
Todi (of Consolation Church designed by Bramante),
Orvieto (with the dome of the XIII century.)
Gubbio ( XV century Palazzo dei Consoli.)
Assisi (Basilica of St. Francis)
Spoleto (bridge of XIII century)
All of these places, thanks to our strategic position can be reached withing 30 mins by car
